Indian Hill Trains – Hill Trains of India- Indian Hill Train Tours

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway or Ooty (Udhagamandalam):  Ooty is the famous tourist destination that sees a large number of tourists visiting it throughout the year.  Indian Railways is plying a special hill train to add to the passengers comfort travelling to Ooty.  Ooty is linked by a narrow guage line from the station Mettupalayam, which act as the connecting link for the mainline trains.

The route of this train comprises of tall girder bridges and 16 tunnels which provide the magnificent view of the spectacular locales that truly adds to the visual delight.

Darjeeling: It is one of the most famous little hill trains that connects the New Jalpaiguri station to Darjeeling. This is the journey that begins from the plains and ends at the exquisite hill station of Darjeeling.

UNESCO has accepted the Darjeeling Himalayan Railways (DHR) as the “World Heritage Site”. This train covers the journey of 86 km and offers the awe-inspiring scenery of the Himalayas. The originating station of the journey is New Jalpaiguri which is linked to various important places in India including Calcutta, Delhi, Guwahati, etc.

Hill Trains of IndiaMatheran : The Matheran train connects Neral to Matheran and is one of the oldest rail line. It provides easy access to the small hill resort nearby to Mumbai. This is a narrow gauge train which travels the distance of 128 kms in 4 hours 25 minutes approx. It halts at two stations enroute including Jwalamukhi Road and kangra. It is capable of accommodating up to 92 passengers and comprises of two chair cars, one first class, and one second class coach.
